The House Homeland Security Committee has passed two bills that would reorganize the Department of Homeland Security‘s cybersecurity operations and require DHS to report how the government discloses cyber vulnerabilities, Nextgov reported Wednesday.The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act would rename the cyber operations division within DHS’ National Protection and Programs Directorate as the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Agency.
The division would keep most of its cybersecurity responsibilities and appoint a new director as well as a deputy director of cybersecurity and infrastructure security.
The Cyber Vulnerability Disclosure Reporting Act would direct the DHS secretary to report the government’s approach to inform industry and the general public of cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
