The Department of Homeland Security is looking to refine its system of cybersecurity sensors to adapt to the needs of more complex cloud platforms, Nextgov reported Wednesday.Jeanette Manfra, leader of the department’s cybersecurity division, said that their current Einstein sensor system is not built to detect cloud threats, but the DHS is partnering with industry to address this.
Einstein’s current approach involves the use of trusted internet connections.
Manfra told reporters at a Palo Alto Networks cybersecurity conference that this same concept cannot be applied to the cloud.
The system, currently in its third phase, is only detecting a small portion of threats within the department’s cyber assets, the report noted.
