The Office of Personnel Management has named Clare Martorana, a former digital service expert for the U.S. Digital Service, as the agency’s new chief information officer, OPM said Thursday. OPM also appointed David Nesting, formerly the director of engineering for the USDS, to serve as deputy CIO.
“I am confident their experience and transformative vision will significantly contribute to our mission to modernize our infrastructure and deliver better services to the American people,†said OPM Acting Director Maraget Weichert.
Martorana succeeds David Garcia, whose accomplishments with the OPM include launching the Employee Digital Record system, consolidating OPM data centers and implementing recommendations from the Government Accountability Office into data security operations.
In her most recent role, Martorana led digital modernization efforts supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. Previously, she served as general manager for WebMD before entering government service. Prior to his current capacity, Nesting held roles such as site reliability engineer at Google and technical architect at AT&T.
