The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has urged aircraft owners to limit plane access to prevent potential attacks on controller area network bus systems.
CISA said Tuesday attackers may connect devices to CAN bus networks to install fraudulent data and manipulate readings on avionics systems. Researchers also noted that avionics instruments may fail to validate accurate data and cause lack of aicraft control.
Scope of affected information may include altitude, airspeeds, attack angle, telemetry readings, compass and attitude data.
CISA has also advised aircraft manufacturers and organizations to study CAN bus network implementation policies and conduct risk assessment efforts to develop defenses and mitigate attacks.
