A continuing resolution that would fund government agencies through Nov. 21 is headed to the White House for President Trump’s signature after the Senate voted 82-15 on Thursday to pass the measure, Government Executive reported.
The upper chamber’s decision came a week after the House approved the seven-week stopgap funding measure to avoid a government shutdown by the end of September and provide lawmakers time to address full-year appropriations bills. The House has already approved most of the 12 appropriations bills, while the Senate has begun to work on those measures.
The Senate Appropriations Committee has already passed four spending bills and was scheduled on Thursday to move five more measures to the full chamber. According to the report, the White House said President Trump will sign the stopgap measure in law, which would authorize a funding increase for the Office of Personnel Management and the Census Bureau.
