Burns will oversee FDIC’s information technology modernization initiatives and continue to manage an interagency effort aimed at helping federal agencies implement zero-trust network security architectures, the agency said Thursday.

As deputy CIO, she led the implementation of cloud-based technology platforms designed to help the agency reduce its on-premise IT footprint and simplify business processes.

She previously served as CIO at the Department of the Interior and managed its information management and technology portfolio valued at more than $1B. She also helped restructure DOI’s IT management and reporting systems in accordance with the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Act.
