Army Demos Ground Weapon System in Interceptor Missile Firing Test


MissileDefenseThe U.S. Army has test-fired a Tamir interceptor missile against an unmanned aerial system using the service branch’s mobile land-based weapon system.

The Army said Wednesday the firing test held April 14 at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico seeks to demonstrate the Indirect Fire Protection Capability Increment 2-Intercept system.

DOW CIO Issues Instruction to Accelerate Mission Software

The Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center partnered with the cruise missile defense systems project office under the program executive office for missile and space to build the IFPC Inc 2-I system that works to defend against UAS, rockets, mortars, artillery and cruise missiles.

IFPC Inc 2-I has the Multi-Mission Launcher platform that works to fire interceptor missiles and uses a Sentinel radar and the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System designed for command and control functions, according to the service branch.

The Army also test-fired Miniature-Hit-to-Kill, AIM-9X Sidewinder and Longbow Hellfire missiles as part of the engineering demonstration of the IFPC Inc 2-I system.
