The House has voted 295-129 to approve an appropriations bill that would provide $81.6 billion in fiscal year 2017 funds to house, train, and equip military personnel.A post on the House Appropriations website said Thursday the spending package includes a $63.3 billion advance from the fiscal 2016 appropriation bill that covers housing and services to military families and maintenance services for base infrastructure, plus veteran benefits programs support.
Of the $81.6 billion, $73.5 billion will be allotted to the Department of Veterans Affairs to address management-related issues and health care shortages.
The remaining $7.9 billion is for family housing and construction of hospitals and health facilities, as well as support for overseas investments.
