The U.S. Army is looking to develop a robotic combat vehicle originally developed for the U.S. Marine Corps in 2017, National Defense Magazine reported Wednesday. Col. Warren Sponsler, deputy director of the Army’s cross-functional team, said that the military branch is slated to conduct phase two of its development activities for the robotic vehicle during a National Defense Industrial Association event in Georgia.

According to Brian Barr, a program manager for the Army, the EMAV unmanned ground system has diesel-electric features and has a payload capacity of 7,200 pounds. He added that the Marine Corps is “continuing to experiment with it and they are reaching out to collaborate with Army customers to witness those experiments.”
