The Defense Health Agency announced an effort to merge the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs’ healthcare systems is in the “strategy development stage,†Bloomberg Government reported Monday.
Pat Murray, deputy director of the National Legislative Service for Veterans of Foreign Wars, said the DoD VA Health Care Staffing Services initiative will help the VA provide timely health services to veterans. Last year, DHA partnered with the VA for a feasibility study on a joint strategy to deliver “integrated, high-quality health care services†for the DoD health unit’s 19M beneficiaries.
The VA mostly caters to older members of the community, while DHA primarily treats families and a younger population.
