IRS Offers Free Electronic Tax Preparation for Mobile Device Users


IRS Offers Free Electronic Tax Preparation for Mobile Device UsersThe Internal Revenue Service has said taxpayers can now access free electronic tax preparation software through mobile devices such as smart phones or tablets.

IRS said Wednesday private-sector partners that offer free tax preparation and filing software under the IRS Free File program adopted a new design to support access from desktops, laptops, mobile phones and tablets.

Mobile device users can find software products through the Free File Software Lookup Tool which is accessible through the agency’s IRS2Go application or website.

The Free File software works to support free electronic tax preparation, filing and direct deposit of refunds.

IRS noted the 12 providers established eligibility requirements for their respective products based on age, income or state residency.

Active duty military personnel with incomes of $64,000 or less are exempt from the requirements.
