Lisa Costa, chief information officer of the U.S. Special Operations Command, said at a Red Hat event that DevOps methodology has helped reduce turnaround times for software development initiatives, Fedscoop reported Tuesday.

Costa noted that DevOps implementation represents a “cultural shift” at the command where software development activities previously lasted for months and years. She added that USSOCOM needs to launch efforts to improve DevOps knowledge and understanding at all levels throughout the command.

“Technology is disrupting government. That is why we need to not only focus on upskilling from the bottom-up, but we also need to focus on upskilling from the top as well,” said Costa. “Because command generals need to understand what is this thing called DevOps.”
