Keith Jones, former deputy chief information officer at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), has been appointed as the State Department’s new CIO, FedScoop reported Friday. Jones will have the rank of assistant secretary of state as part of his new capacity, a department spokesperson told the publication.
Most recently, Jones served as a principal consultant at government-focused management consulting firm Deep Water Point. He brings over a decade of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) experience to his new role and previously held similar deputy CIO positions at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Following his brief departure from federal service in 2018, Jones established New York-based information technology services company The Edgewater Group where he also served as president and CEO.
