NASA to Break Ground on New R&D Lab at Langley Research Center


NASA to Break Ground on New R&D Lab at Langley Research CenterNASA will break ground Tuesday on a laboratory at Langley Research Center in Virginia as part of a 20-year revitalization initiative to modernize aging structures and construct facilities.

The space agency said Thursday the new Measurement Systems Laboratory will be built to research and develop measurement concepts, systems and technologies for aeronautic, scientific and space exploration missions.

W.M. Jordan secured a $95.6 million contract from the General Services Administration in December to build the R&D facility at Langley.

NASA noted the building will have nearly 40 modular research labs designed to address agency needs for clean rooms, electronics, instrumentation and lasers.

The facility will consolidate labs currently dispersed across Langley, the agency added.
