Maj. Gen. Garrett Yee, deputy chief information officer for the U.S. Army, made the remarks during a recent AFCEA luncheon, where Edward Siomacco, a deputy director at the Army’s G-4 headquarters, described a six-month trial commercial cloud effort being carried out by the Army Business Council.

According to Yee, the ABC’s initiative “isn’t in conflict” with JEDI.

JEDI is a $10B sole-sourced Defense Department contract Involving the migration of sensitive DoD data onto the commercial cloud solution of the successful bidder.

Amazon, IBM and Microsoft have indicated their plan to bid.
