Participants of a Defense Department-organized bug bounty challenge have discovered almost 150 vulnerabilities in the public-facing websites and services of the U.S. Marine Corps.
HackerOne said Wednesday more than 100 ethical hackers reported the vulnerabilities to the Marine Corps Cyberspace Command during the recent 20-day Hack the Marine Corps program and received over $150,000 for their efforts.
The DoD launched the challenge to boost the cybersecurity posture of the Marine Corps Enterprise Network.
MARFORCYBER Commander Maj. Gen. Matthew Glavy said the bug bounty challenge supports the Marine Corps in strengthening its warfighting platform, preparing for combat and reducing future vulnerabilities.
The DoD conducted the Hack the Marine Corps challenge as part of the Hack the Pentagon program, which is performed in coordination with HackerOne and the Defense Digital Services.
