Intelligence CIOs Warn AI Agents Could Accelerate Cyberattacks

GAO recommended agencies to utilize pay and hiring privileges, optimize employee support and promote engagement to address retention and hiring gaps, the accountability agency said Tuesday.

The government watchdog added that agencies need to draft coherent job postings and conduct hiring efforts at the start of the school year to prepare for any uncertainties in funding.

GAO also assessed potential benefits that may help in optimizing recruitment and retention capabilities including employee assistance, alternating work schedules and health programs.

The report found that lack of specific skills and staff shortages have an effect on the entire federal workforce. In addition, the percentage of retirement eligibility and the changing nature of federal work may further issues brought by skill concerns.
