U.S. Air Force Capt. Hope Cronin announced that Preston Dunlap, formerly a national security analysis mission areas executive at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, was appointed chief architect at the service branch’s office of the assistant secretary for acquisition, technology and logistics, Inside Defense reported Friday.

Dunlap will manage the Air Force’s Advanced Battle Management System to assist in multidomain control and command objectives. Prior to Johns Hopkins APL, Dunlap served as chief of staff to the director of cost assessment and program evaluation, deputy director of the Simulation and Analysis Center and deputy manager for information management and analysis at the Senior Executive Service.

The Air Force plans to replace its E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System with the ABMS platform to support Department of Defense efforts to sustain military power in accordance with the 2018 National Defense Strategy.
