Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas) announced that he will not run for re-election in 2020 “in order to pursue opportunities outside the halls of Congress to solve problems at the nexus between technology and national security.” Hurd, a 2019 Wash100 Award recipient, wrote in an editorial published Thursday about the “generational challenges” facing the U.S., including the geopolitical competition with China, the increasing incidents of cyber attacks and competition for leadership in the field of artificial intelligence.
