The White House established the new National Quantum Coordination Office that will handle projects focused on quantum computing research and development. The Office of Science and Technology Policy made the announcement on Twitter Monday.
In December, President Trump signed the National Quantum Initiative Act that called for creation of a new office to manage and help address the challenges facing federal quantum computing projects. The law will provide $1.2B in funding for quantum computing research and development over the next five years and support organizations and industry in federally-backed research programs.
“We look forward to continued implementation of this law to secure US leadership in quantum science for generations to come,†OSTP said in the tweet.
