Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has unveiled plans to invest $50 million on a cyber innovation and training center in the state in efforts to address the potential threat of cyber attacks in the Central Savannah River Area, WJBF-TV reported Monday.
Marlena Wilson writes the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center will be located near the future Riverfront campus of Augusta University.
The report said the hub will work to complement an upcoming facility of the Army Cyber Command at Fort Gordon in Augusta to help make the city the “Silicon Valley of the south.”
Executive Gov reported Dec. 5 that the Army Cyber Command Complex will consolidate the U.S. Army‘s cyber, education, training and capability development operations in support of cyber readiness initiatives.
The complex is set to be operational in 2020.
