VA, VACDC Partner to Build Ambulatory Care Center at Omaha VA Medical Center

VA, VACDC Partner to Build Ambulatory Care Center at Omaha VA Medical CenterThe Department of Veterans Affairs has forged an agreement with Omaha, Nebraska-based nonprofit Veterans Ambulatory Center Development Corp. to build an ambulatory care center at Omaha VA Medical Center campus.

VA said Wednesday it has chosen to partner with VACDC instead of following through a 2011 plan to construct a $560 million facility.

The department will use $56 million of the original appropriated funds along with VACDC’s approximately $30 million donation to complete the project.

Congress supports the project through the Communities Helping Invest through Property and Improvements Needed for Veterans Act of 2016, which authorizes VA to accept real property or construction support donations from non-federal entities through a five-year pilot program.

The future ambulatory care center in Omaha is the first of five projects that will be built under an initiative authorized by the CHIP IN for Vets Act, VA noted.
